Lawyers For Secure Immigration (L4SI) offers the opportunity to connect and collaborate with like-minded legal professionals who believe Canada requires security screening measures to protect the population by minimizing security risk.

As a nation of immigrants, Canada welcomes newcomers from every region of the world. It is critical for Government to respond to ever-changing geo-political influences to guard against foreign interferences and the importation of international conflicts to Canada. To this end, there is a continuing need for Government to re-evaluate screening measures and apply country or region-specific criteria so that Canada proactively manages those being admitted to Canada.

By joining L4SI you will partake in policy, operational and legal discussions about how Canada can augment safeguards while adhering to the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, Canadian legislation and international law. As a member of the L4SI you will be encouraged to share your knowledge and expertise and help generate ideas that support policy and legal reforms. 

We welcome legal professionals from across Canada and globally. Experiences in other jurisdictions will inform our work and ensure that international experiences guide our initiatives.

Each prospective member must:

• Be either a lawyer, notary, or legal professional registered to practice law in Canada. This includes retired professionals and foreign legal consultants;
• Adhere to the ethical standards and professional conduct expected in the legal profession;
• Demonstrate a commitment to the objectives and mission of L4SI;
• Satisfy the internal acceptance process established by the enrollment committee.
